Gabinet weterynaryjny Awet przy ul. Jana Matejki 22 w Gdańsku został założony w 1990 roku przez lek. wet. Adama Makowskiego. Razem z lek. wet. Małgorzatą Surowiec wspólnie przez 10 lat zajmowali się leczeniem małych zwierząt. Od 2000 roku Gabinet stał się firmą rodzinną, gdzie zarówno żona Zofia Makowska jak i syn Paweł Makowski pomagają prowadzić firmę. Wyposażenie gabinetu wzbogaciło się o nowoczesny sprzęt do diagnostyki (aparat USG i EKG) i elektrochirurgii.
