Schronisko dla Bezdomnych Zwierząt w Rybniku (woj. śląskie) znajduje w dzielnicy Wielopole przy ul. Majątkowej 42. Jego uroczyste otwarcie nastąpiło w Światowym Dniu Ochrony Praw Zwierząt – 24 maja 1999r. Właścicielem i administratorem od samego początku jest Rolnicza Spółdzielnia Produkcyjna w Rybniku. Przy schronisku działa także cmentarz dla zwierząt, który obecnie jest już nieczynny (nowych zwierzątek nie można już chować, groby istniejące nadal można odwiedzać).
Do schroniska przyjmowane są przede wszystkim zwierzęta udomowione, które reguluje ustawa o ochronie zwierząt: psy, koty oraz gryzonie, jak również zwierzęta egzotyczne, np. żółwie. Zwierzaki trafiają do schroniska z różnych powodów, w większości są to znajdy, które znudziły się właścicielom, często są to psy chore, zaniedbane lub okaleczone. Część zwierząt przywożona jest także bezpośrednio przez swoich właścicieli, np. z powodu wyjazdu za granicę lub problemów zdrowotnych. Obecnie w schronisku przebywa ok. 100 psów i od kilku do kilkudziesięciu (w okresie letnim) kotów. Wszystkie zwierzaki w schronisku są na bieżąco szczepione, odrobaczane oraz kastrowane i sterylizowane, a psy od 2011 roku także chipowane.

Pourtant, il faut prendre en compte, qu’une micropuce est uniquement un transpondeur avec un numéro encodé. La micropuce ne peut pas localiser ni fournir des informations sur le propriétaire et son animal ! Pour identifier un chat ou un chien, il faut enregistrer les micropuces dans une base nationale d'animaux marqués...
